The self-managed hiking refuge, Casa di Caccia del Gran Piano, is located at an altitude of 2,220 meters in the wild Ciamousseretto valley.

Situated in the municipality of Noasca, along the Giroparco Gran Paradiso route and the Alta Via Canavesana, Casa di Caccia del Gran Piano refuge is divided in a functional way to accommodate up to 10 hikers. The refuge offers:

• A self-catering area with a fireplace, dining area, and a washable and disinfectable worktop, as well as a separate gas cooking area equipped with a sink, plates, cutlery, glasses, and utensils; drinking water
• 3 furnished rooms with bunk beds, equipped with bed frames, mattresses, pillows, and blankets
• 2 bathrooms with a sink, toilet, and hot shower
• Surface area: 130 sqm
• Bed capacity in dormitory: 10

As a "self-managed hiking refuge," the facility is equipped for overnight stays and independent cooking by user groups who must provide their own food.

The History

The Park has historical origins in the hunting reserve established by the House of Savoy in the mid-19th century. In 1856, the reserve was officially formed. Between 1860 and 1900, a total of 325 kilometers of mule tracks were built or refurbished, connecting five "royal hunting lodges" located at altitudes of 2000-2200 meters. Among these, the Orvieille lodge in Valsavarenche and the Gran Piano lodge in Noasca Valley, which are still owned by the park, were used for surveillance and research purposes.

Furthermore, the Gran Piano lodge has been renovated by the park authority, with a portion of the facility granted as a self-managed hiking refuge for guided user flows. It serves as a base for trekking, mountain approach activities, training/updating courses, nature stays, and other initiatives compatible with the park's objectives.

Moreover, we will have the opportunity to admire the typical wildlife of Gran Paradiso National Park in its natural environment, including ibex, chamois, eagles, bearded vultures, marmots, and many others!

The Casa di Caccia refuge is the perfect base for various treks in Gran Paradiso National Park and is a point of passage for well-known trails such as the GTA (Grande Traversata delle Alpi), AVC (Alta Via Canavesana), and Giroparco Gran Paradiso.

Some possible treks include:

• Continuing through the wild Ciamousseretto valley, you can quickly reach the beautiful glacial lakes of the same name, created by the melting of the Gran Paradiso glaciers, at the foot of the impressive Ciarforon (3642m).

• You can also reach the Pontese refuge (2217m) and Locana by ascending to the Bocchetta del Ges (2692m), passing through the Noaschetta valley to the Ivrea bivouac (2770m), ascending to the Colle dei Becchi (2990m), and finally descending into the Piantonetto valley towards Pontese.

• Meeting in the morning with the guide in Noasca Canavese
• Car transfer to the starting point of the trek
• Trekking towards the Gran Piano refuge, through forests, waterfalls, and alpine meadows
• Visit to the Gran Pra alpine pasture, picnic lunch and relaxation (possibility of tasting typical cheeses)
• Continue the trek towards the Casa di Caccia, which is now very close
• Arrival at the refuge, room accommodation, and relaxation

Caratteristiche Tecniche:

Questo tour escursionistico è adatto a chiunque abbia un minimo di esperienza nelle passeggiate in montagna. La lunghezza è di circa 6 chilometri, con la possibilità di fare soste e ristorarsi. Il dislivello positivo massimo è di circa 900 metri. Il tour può essere adattato in base alle capacità dei partecipanti.

Alloggio e Pasti

Il rifugio è disponibile per l'autogestione. È presente una cucina ben attrezzata con fornelli a gas, lavandino, stoviglie e un camino. Ci sono 10 letti con reti, materassi, cuscini e coperte; 2 bagni con lavandino, water e doccia con acqua calda. Sono presenti diverse prese elettriche, e il rifugio è illuminato. Per il tour autogestito, è necessario portare cibo e bevande propri.

A Rivarolo, scendi e prendi l'autobus per Ceresole Reale.

Dall'Aeroporto di Torino-Caselle, prendi il treno per la stazione di Torino Dora.
Da Torino Dora, prendi la linea ferroviaria Canavesana in direzione Rivarolo Canavese.
A Rivarolo, scendi e prendi l'autobus per Ceresole Reale.

Dalla stazione di Milano Centrale, prendi la linea ferroviaria in direzione Torino Porta Nuova.
Dalla stazione di Porta Nuova, prendi la linea ferroviaria Canavesana in direzione Rivarolo Canavese.
A Rivarolo, scendi e prendi l'autobus per Ceresole Reale.

Dall'Aeroporto di Milano Malpensa, prendi il treno Malpensa Express fino alla stazione di Milano Centrale.
Da Milano Centrale, prendi un treno per Torino Porta Nuova.
A Torino Porta Nuova, cambia treno e prendi la linea ferroviaria Canavesana in direzione Rivarolo Canavese.
Scendi alla stazione di Rivarolo Canavese e prendi l'autobus per Ceresole Reale.

O in autobus:
Dall'Aeroporto di Milano Malpensa, prendi l'autobus SADEM per la stazione di Torino Porta Susa.
Da Torino Porta Susa, prendi la linea ferroviaria Canavesana in direzione Rivarolo Canavese.
A Rivarolo, scendi e prendi l'autobus per Ceresole Reale.

In auto da Torino:
Dirigiti verso la Tangenziale Nord di Torino, esci a Caselle e prendi la superstrada Torino-Caselle. Prendi la terza uscita verso Rivarolo/Parco Gran Paradiso (SS460) e segui la strada fino a Ceresole Reale.

In auto da Milano:
Prendi l'autostrada A4 in direzione Torino, esci a Santhià verso Ivrea/Aosta (E25), poi esci nuovamente a Ivrea e segui le indicazioni per Ceresole Reale/Parco Gran Paradiso.
