Mountaineering in the Gran Paradiso park: Southern Beak of the Tribulation Canavese Piedmont
#hashtag: Piedmont Mountaineering – Gran Paradiso Mountaineering Welcome to an unforgettable mountaineering adventure among the wildest and most majestic peaks of the Italian Alps! Join us on a two-day mountaineering climb to the Southern Beak of Tribulation, an imposing granite tower 3360 meters high, along a traditional classic route. The Piantonetto valley, located in the heart of the Gran Paradiso park, is renowned for its rich mountaineering history which dates back to the beginning of the century. Here, peaks rising to 3600 meters offer vertical granite walls ideal for traditional climbing. This valley is considered one of the most interesting places in the park for rock mountaineering, with its sharp granite towers characterized by dihedrals and cracks, comparable to the rock formations of the satellites of Mont Blanc such as the Gran Capucin. Mountains such as the Valsoera beak, the Tribulation beaks and the Gran San Pietro have been the dream of every mountaineer for decades, and the history of Piedmontese climbing has been written on these walls.First Day: Preparation and Arrival at the Pontese Refuge
On the first day, after a morning meeting in Locana with the mountain guide, we will head by car towards the Piantonetto dam. From here we will begin our walk of approximately 45 minutes towards the Pontese refuge (2200 metres), where we will have the opportunity to practice on one of the nearby cliffs to gain confidence with traditional climbing techniques in preparation for the big climb the following day.Second Day: Excursion and Climbing
The second day will take us to a remote area where, after about 3 hours of walking, we will reach the starting point of our climb. We will tackle around 6 pitches on a magnificent 250 meter long red granite, characterized by cracks, dihedrals, slabs, and all the nuances that granite can offer. We expect to take around 6 hours to reach the summit. The descent can take place along the normal route or via one of the ascent lines. After a refreshing lunch at the Pontese refuge, we will continue on foot to the Piantonetto dam and then by car to Locana. You will be accompanied by certified mountain guides with excellent knowledge of English. This tour is suitable for climbers with good rock climbing experience (5C/6A).Package Customization
There are many possibilities for customizing the package: you can adapt the itinerary based on your available days and personal preferences, adding or removing services according to your needs. Don’t miss the opportunity to live an unforgettable experience among the peaks of the Gran Paradiso park.
